Rutile
TiO₂Pigments, welding electrode coatings, titanium metal production.
Currumbin Minerals has mined and processed mineral sands on the Gold Coast since 1948. We separate premium mineral concentrates for export — and wash clean sand for the builders, landscapers and tradies right down the road.
Not just a byproduct
Every tonne of mineral sand we process starts as beach and river sand — and once we've taken the heavy minerals out, what's left is clean, screened sand ready for building, landscaping and concrete. Each year we sell tens of thousands of tonnes of it. It's one of our biggest product lines, and the public are welcome to buy it.
Explore washed sand
A genuine circular economy
Gold Coast construction and excavation sites regularly turn up sand carrying real value — some of it remarkably rich in heavy minerals. We buy that sand, extract the minerals, wash what's left, and sell the clean sand straight back into the market. If you're moving spoil, it's worth a call before it goes to landfill.
Supply your sand
We produce rutile, zircon, ilmenite, synthetic rutile and monazite — separated on-site to high purity and exported to manufacturers across Asia and the Middle East.
Pigments, welding electrode coatings, titanium metal production.
Ceramics and tiles, refractories, foundry sands, zirconia chemicals.
TiO₂ feedstock, pigment production.

Gravity, electrostatic & magnetic separation on one site
Backed by Queensland Treasury critical-minerals funding
Our separation facility runs wet gravity separation followed by dry electrostatic and magnetic separation, producing high-purity mineral concentrates. It's an active site — we're currently upgrading the disc magnets on our “mids” fraction and improving the monazite circuit with a new rotary screen.
